2019-2024 Sierra/Silverado: Tow Mirror Install (Boost Auto)
Tow mirror installation and feature overview on a 4th Generation GMC/Chevrolet pickup. I had almost pulled the trigger on a OEM set of factory tow mirrors when I came across these mirrors from Boost Auto. They have the same factory finish and switch integration, but offered features that didn't come stock. This pickup is a 2020 Sierra Elevation that came with factory defrost only. With these mirrors, I was able to add turn signals, forward and rear facing lights, upper and lower defrost, and power fold. With the detailed video installation instructions from Boost Auto, the wiring was not hard, only tedious. I am happy with the end result.

I just finished this job an hour ago and i did everything as he did except i only released the drivers side tie rod and the pitman and idler arms and left the passenger side tie rod end installed. I was trying to be lazy and leave the whole steering mechanism in but the diff didnt maker past the steering rods so i stayed lazy and only released 3 of the 4 joints he stated. I left the tires on and did this on ramps on the ground. I did take the tires off tontake out the cv bolts but then put thr tires back on to ride it up the ramps thus giving me crush protection and extra room to work. Greay job on the extremely clear instructions and videos angles. Hope my adventure helps someone else out.

Hello there, Great video my friend. but man, the gas version has that Exhaust pipe in a way and what a pain in the butt to change the transmission fluid while removing all kinds of parts out of the way. Anyway, I have a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 3.0L Duramax and the transmission at these pick up truck is not obstructed by anything apparently l, so it is easier to remove the pan. Now, this is my story. I just recently ordered through Amazon my Al Delco Transmission Fluid and since the Amazon suggested that the Dextron VI transmission fluid fits my car then I went ahead and purchased 12 qts since I am changing the pan with a deep PPE pan. Now I went ahead and changed the transmission fluid and place the Dextron VI already, as well as went through all the process and temperatures too.. Drive it for about 4/5 miles and then parked it. The second day, I went ahead and watch few videos including yours and I realized that the AlDelco Dextron VI is NOT the correct fluid for this 10L80 transmission. Instead I need the Dextron ULV 10-4107 I think it is the bottle saying. As soon as I saw that then I drain the transmission again immediately and replaced it with the correct Dextron ULV type. Went through the whole process again and drove the truck again for about 10 miles. Everything seems fine for now, but there is most likely more fluid left inside the Torques Convertor as I would imagine since I could not drain everything. So at this point it is mixed with the Dextron VI. Since I can’t flush the transmission for now, then I am planing to removed it again later on and add again 9 quarts of new Dextron ULV so that the fluid left inside the Torque Converter will be replace with new fluid and have less Dextron VI left overall inside… Damn Amazon have this message stating that this Dextron VI fit my vehicle so I got to table mislead and went though all this headache. I am hoping that everything will be fine in the end while repeating this process again so that the incorrect fluid will be removed as much as possible.. Geez! What a damn nightmare and believe the Amazon posted message.

Once you enter program mode, if you don't completely train all sensors it will give you the service monitoring system warning. The one sensor that isn't training likely has a low or dead battery that programing tool isn't picking up.

  • @DamonPodolny

Thanks for the video. The only issue I see is the use of thread locking compound when installing steel fasteners into an aluminum thread. This is a huge no-no and can actually cause the bolts to back out. Engineers rely on a process referred to as galvanic corrosion or dissimilar metal galling to lock the fastener in place, hence no thread lock. Simply make sure that the threads are clean and you’re good to go. By using thread locker in this situation you are actually putting a coating on the fastener that prevents the galvanic lock, blue thread lock releases at very low temps so once the component heats up the thread lock actually becomes a lubricant and makes it easier for the fastener to come loose. As a general rule when removing fasteners from factory installed components if there is no thread lock on the fastener when it comes out, don’t use it going back in.

The ring leaking is only part of the problem. The part itself leaks on the backside as well where the back cover is mounted to the part. The best thing to do is to replace the whole entire part. The part costs anywhere from $100 to $250 depending who you get it from.
